SMHA Film Featured At Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation Event
Southern Mutual's film Hurricane Rita/Rural Recovery set the stage for a daylong meeting hosted by the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation in New Orleans on September 14. Attending were funders and foundation board members, staff and grantees.In August SMHA received a $1.25 million grant from the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation, made possible by contributions from the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, to underwrite the work of SMHA's Rural Recovery Task Force in coastal Louisiana parishes impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
At an earlier meeting of grantees attended by representatives from the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, Lorna Bourg highlighted challenges facing hurricane-devastated rural areas of Southern Louisiana.
