2/23/2005 12:00:00 AM

Last year's winner was Jaclyn Rogers and Principal, Terri Magar, from North Street Elementary School in New Iberia.

The gators are in training, the tickets are on sale, and the prizes are waiting to be claimed... The 2nd Annual Great Gator Race is fast approaching. Next Saturday, March 5th, 5,000 gators will race down the Bayou Teche at Bouligny Plaza. The Race Day event begins at high noon, with live music from the Andy Smith Band, a free fun jump for kids, live baby alligators to pet, and lots of good eats and yummy treats from Community First Bank, Phil Haney, IBERIABANK, and Peltier's Catering.

The 2005 Great Gator Race coloring pages are now in local elementary schools throughout Iberia Parish.

Over 6,500 coloring pages have been delivered to school children from Pre "K" to 4th Grade. The coloring pages should be returned to IBERIABANK on Admiral Doyle, Regions Bank on south Lewis Street, or MidSouth Bank at SuperOne Foods by March 1st, 2005. The winner of the coloring contest will be featured in The Daily Iberian.
