The Seventh Annual Great Gator Race takes place Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Bouligny Plaza in Downtown New Iberia. Now is the time to sponsor a gator (or more!) and root for your gator to win one of the fabulous prizes that are up for grabs.
A Caribbean cruise for two, a charcoal cooker, a two-night bed and breakfast stay, and assorted valuable gift certificates are a sampling of what you can win. Various sponsorship packages are available, starting at $5 for individual gators. For $75, you can purchase a "Gathering of Gators," which includes 12 gators and two t-shirts. Those wishing to "Buy the Whole Farm" can have 85 gators, 10 t-shirts, and sponsor recognition on the Race Day Billboard for $500. The "Ultimate Gator Handler" entitles you to 180 gators, 12 t-shirts, sponsorship on the Race Day Billboard, four VIP passes for the Race Day, and four meals with drinks on Race Day. Winners need not be present to win, but will have more fun if they attend!
The event begins at 11:00 AM with the Gator Stomp & Chomp, where folks can dance to the sounds of Geno Delafose & French Rockin' Boogie and enjoy great food before the race officially begins at high noon. The Great Gator Race is an annual fundraiser for Southern Mutual Help Association, whose mission is to build healthy, prosperous communities in Louisiana.
